Air New Zealand Roof Replacement Project
APS was engaged to deliver a complex roof replacement project for Air New Zealand, specialising in the installation of DP955 profiled long-run metal roofing systems. Operating within a live engineering environment and exposed coastal conditions, the project required precision, adaptability, and strong collaboration across multiple trades.
Our team worked closely from design through to delivery, ensuring all installations aligned with project drawings while incorporating high-performance insulation systems and detailed flashing solutions for a complete, durable outcome.
A key contribution of APS was providing design and drafting expertise, developing amendments to the original architectural drawings which led to approved variations 2–5. This proactive approach ensured buildability and efficiency as site conditions evolved.
The project presented ongoing challenges, particularly with frequent scaffold design changes, requiring our team to continuously adapt methodologies across all five stages of construction. Each stage demanded a tailored approach, demonstrating our flexibility and problem-solving capability.
APS collaborated closely with key project partners including CBC, Metro Glass, Cookie Plumbing, and Air Concepts to ensure seamless coordination and programme alignment throughout the works.
To meet the strict environmental requirements of the Air New Zealand engineering base, our team successfully installed a vapour barrier system to the interior ceiling, supported by carefully installed netting to maintain a controlled internal environment.
Given the site’s proximity to the ocean and exposure to harsh conditions, APS supplied and installed MagnaflowX material in the DP955 profile, ensuring long-term durability and performance.
Throughout the project, APS demonstrated its expertise as a specialist long-run roofing contractor, delivering high-quality workmanship under demanding conditions. The result was a robust, high-performing roofing system delivered to an exceptional standard.
The client and main contractor (CBC/Air New Zealand) expressed strong satisfaction with the outcome, recognising APS as one of the best roofing contractors they have worked with.
